We are so excited to announce the official opening of the 2025 Cheekee Hero Community Art Display, in partnership with Ōrākei School. From 8th September to 31st October, the Glen Innes to Tāmaki Shared Path (Ōrākei side) will come alive with vibrant, imaginative artworks created by the tamariki of Ōrākei School.

This year’s theme, “Find Your Wings and Fly,” invites us all to pause, reflect, and celebrate the voices of young people through art and storytelling. Each of the 8 Cheekee Heroes on display carries a powerful message of kindness, inclusion, and belonging. Values that sit at the heart of our community.

A Shared Path for Art, Whānau, and Community

The Cheekee Hero Community Art Display is more than just an exhibition. It’s an invitation for families, cyclists, and walkers to enjoy the beauty of the Shared Path while engaging with art that sparks imagination and empathy.

We also invite you to join in the #myheromoment Challenge:

  • Hop on your bike, walk, or run the Shared Path.
    Discover your favourite artwork.
Take a photo or selfie with it, tag @CheekeeHero, and use #myheromoment.
Share why that piece speaks to you - and go in the draw for a mystery prize chosen by Lox, the inspiration behind Cheekee Hero Charity.

    With Gratitude

This project was only possible through the aroha and support of our wider community. A huge mihi to Ōrākei Arts (initiated by the Ōrākei Local Board) and the BlueSky Community Trust, whose generous grant laid the foundation for this celebration of creativity and inclusivity.

Together, you’ve helped create a space where tamariki can see their creativity celebrated and where whānau can connect through shared experiences.

We warmly invite you and your whānau to come along, enjoy the artwork, and find YOUR hero moment. Because a shared path is more than just a walkway - it’s a shared journey.
