Ōrākei School, A Gold Supporter of The Cheekee Hero Fun Run
On the 12th of March 2021, the inaugural Cheekee Run took place, and it was a remarkable event that left us all thrilled. Building on that success, Ōrākei School hosted its annual Cheekee Run on the 14th of November 2022, and the anticipation was palpable.
The primary goal of the event was to foster connections with all tamariki (children), spreading joy and creating an inclusive environment where everyone could participate. The theme revolved around superheroes and, of course, the colour gold. With an emphasis on kindness, we aimed to teach our tamariki the significance of compassion and caring for one another, particularly those who face daily challenges.
The proceeds from the Cheekee Run were graciously donated to Ōrākei School's Special Education Needs Unit. This support aimed to assist their diverse community and enhance their presence within Ōrākei School and the local area.
Witnessing our dedicated kaiako (teachers) and enthusiastic tamariki (children) dressed as superheroes or adorned in gold, showcasing their incredible dance moves, was truly a sight to behold. The spirit of Ōrākei School, nestled in the picturesque suburb of Ōrākei, exudes a remarkable aura of diversity and equality and we are proud to have Lox, our Cheekee Hero, attend this awesome school.
We extend a massive shout out to Ōrākei School for wholeheartedly embracing this kaupapa. You all truly rock the planet!
