Since 2023, the Cheekee Hero Community Art Project has been inspiring tamariki to share their voices through art. What began with a collaborative school storybook, created and gifted to Ōrākei School, has grown into an annual community celebration of creativity, belonging and connection.
Each year, a new theme invites children to explore big ideas through their imaginations. Their artwork then steps beyond the classroom and into the community through vibrant public art activations, transforming everyday spaces into places of wonder, conversation and pride. With growing interest from schools, whānau and the wider community, the project continues to bring people together in meaningful and lasting ways.
